Ohio Education Reform

9/24/05

just reregistered with the flannery for ohio petition.

i just saw someting on cspan about education myths, and it got my educational juices flowing...

i have always believe that our current school funding scheme relies too heavily on local funds to finance the local school interests. consequently, there are "have" and "have-not" school districts.

i believe that the basic costs of school operation should be collected and evenly distributes on the state level, so that each school district will have sufficient funds for the basic operations. hopefully buildings will be properly funded and equipped, with functional roofs, climate control, chalk boards and desks, even working photo copiers and school buses.

local money should be raised to fund "luxary" programs and needs like sports programs, band, new computer labs, extra teachers, etc.
